The Shoe That Grows helps Precious dance
Precious Baraka loves to dance and dreams of being a professional dancer when she grows up. Each day after school, she teaches herself new dance moves. “The moves make me happy,” she says.
Precious attends and lives at the Havilla Children’s Home near the Soweto slum area of Nairobi, Kenya. The children’s home includes a school, dance program and individualized childcare. Most of the children at the home are either orphaned or abandoned.
Precious received a pair of The Shoe That Grows from a previous shoe distribution, and she spoke with the Because International team this fall. She said of the shoes, “I love [The Shoe That Grows] because they protect me from jiggers.”
So, Precious wears the shoes each day, especially when dancing. The shoes protect her health, and staying healthy means that she can continue doing what she loves.
Your contribution to Because International gives kids like Precious the opportunity to pursue their dreams. With your help, we’ve distributed more than 58,000 pairs of The Shoe That Grows this year—that’s just in 2019!
