Distributing The Shoe in Kenya

Distributing The Shoe in Kenya

Earlier this summer, Because International’s East Africa Distribution Partner, Japheth Opondo, spent time distributing pairs of The Shoe That Grows to children in Siaya, Kenya.

To distribute the 100 pairs, he worked alongside the Daraja Community Organization, which works to “empower the community to help bridge the gap between poverty and decent living,” focusing on support for health and education.

Japheth, Daraja social workers, and a government official worked together to ensure a safe distribution.

DISTRIBUTING PAIRS DURING THE PANDEMIC

“My observation about this area of distributions is that it's in great need of shoes,” Japheth reflected. “I realized so many kids had jigger infestations on their feet and quite a good number lacked proper shoes and a number of them came barefoot.”

Japheth shared, “The 100 pairs we distributed was like a drop in the ocean." During the COVID-19 pandemic, a time fraught with challenges, distributing The Shoe That Grows safely will allow us to continue to meet ongoing basic needs.

This distribution is just one example of the ways in which The Shoe is continuing to make its way to families and kids worldwide in 2020.
