Vision & Call Internship Program

Overview and vision of the program

The Vision & Call Internship is an initiative that is funded through our partnership with The Murdock Trust and is designed to engage young adults in meaningful and significant work within a nonprofit setting. The Vision & Call Internship framework is designed to create intentional space for young adults to seek ways to join in the work that God is doing here on earth and find ways to integrate their faith with their vocation. While Because International is not a faith-based ministry or nonprofit, there is space for individuals whose faith informs the whole of their life. While the work of Because often happens through partnership and funding from faith-based organizations, churches, and individuals, it is also the case that our work finds us partnering with individuals of other faith perspectives, no faith background, government agencies, and other groups. This unique interplay provides an atmosphere for young adults to learn how to see their work as being a part of the Kingdom mission regardless of the religious orientation of the organization that signs their checks.

What kind of applicant are we looking for?

Because is looking for young adults who are in their junior or senior year of college or who are recent graduates. Additionally, we are seeking young adults who have a desire to better understand how to integrate their faith and vocation and who have thought about or desire to pursue God’s unique call and leading for their vocation.

Hear From Past Vision & Call Interns

“This internship made me stop and really think about what it means to help people well. Most of us have good intentions when we go into any sort of work with the title of ‘non-profit’ but often we forget why we are doing something and even forget about the people we are trying to help. Because International has helped me to see that working with people is a complex issue and one that shouldn't be taken lightly, every person who works for Because International gives value to the dignity of each individual and I have learned a lot about how I want to conduct myself in life through my coworkers and this organization.” —Chloe Lyon

“This internship affirmed to me that the question ‘what is my calling?’ is not a one time question and answer. Discovering and leaning into my personal mission is a lifelong process and experience of living in a complex world. I can live into my calling no matter what job I have. During my time as an intern, I was able to reflect on what I love to do most and share when I feel most like myself while being open and honest with a group of individuals who have grown to be close friends and mentors that I trust. I am so thankful for the opportunity to have made space for reflecting, questioning and wrestling with big topics in a community of people who have been such encouragers to me during a time when I really needed a support system post-college.” —Olivia MacDonald
