About CIFORD Kenya

Partnering across counties

CIFORD partners with schools with students who come from vulnerable communities, focusing on three counties: Meru County, Isiolo County, and Tharaka Nithi County.

Meeting immediate needs

Working at the intersection of climate and health, CIFORD addresses WASH, nutrition, environmental conservation, reproductive health, and community disease prevention.

Equipping rural communities

The work CIFORD is involved with spans climate-smart agriculture, small livestock, water harvesting, agroforestry, and agro-enterprise development, equipping rural communities with the skills and resources to sustain themselves.

CIFORD Kenya works in underserved communities where its rocky, thorny and dusty, a pair of shoes means protection from injuries, diseases and harsh climatic conditions. The shoes help them to walk safely to school, participate in daily activities and focus on learning instead of discomfort. Shoes are not just an item of clothing but they help children utilize fully opportunities and pursue a brighter future.

In communities facing economic hardship, education is a key to breaking cycles of poverty, empowering individuals and creating lasting change for families and entire communities. The shoes we distribute to the students help them have a comfortable stay in school hence improving their academic performance, school attendance and morale in learning.
