The Shoe That Grows is a shoe that expands five sizes, designed for children impacted by poverty. More than 450,000 pairs have been distributed in 100+ countries.
An estimated 600,000 kids in rural Kenya don’t have access to a pair of shoes. Without shoes, kids are vulnerable to parasites, soil-transmitted diseases, and injuries. Beyond the physical impacts, kids who are injured or sick will miss school or be distracted during class.

We wanted to simplify the design, enclose it a little bit more and be able to scale production. The new design is less complex, made with a single mold and fewer materials—a high-quality, durable shoe that’s less expensive to produce at scale.
Yes! Both designs are manufactured at Umoja Shoe Company in Mombasa, Kenya.
It’s not going away—both versions of The Shoe That Grows will be available through our website in summer of 2025.
For this campaign, we're able to distribute these pairs for just $10 each because we're manufacturing at such a high volume. Pricing for orders outside of this campaign will be determined by summer of 2025.
